Today at the Vancouver Winter Farmers Market (at Nat Bailey Stadium every Saturday) it was the CSA fair.  The weather wasn’t the best, but I do appreciate that the rain wasn’t as heavy as was forecasted.  And although there was no sun, there was lots of bright lights in the form of rosy-cheeked, wet, but happy food-loving folks swimming through the rain, strollers and people vendor to vendor learning about where their food comes from and getting ready to prepare lots of scrumptious meals for the week to come.

I handed out some of my flyers that suggests to folks interested in purchasing a csa share for next year to check out this blog and realized that I’d better update the site with the info!  So here it is…but I’d like to learn from you what potatoes you’d like to see in next year’s csa shares.  I won’t be ordering seed until the new year so now is your chance to inform the crop!  I’ll still include, Red Cheiftains, Sieglindes, Russian Blues and Yukon Golds, but what about Russets, Banana Fingerlings, Cascades…?  I’ll likely include 1-2 more varieties on top of the four I had last year and the amounts you can order look like this:

20 LB Small Medley…………………………..$40
40 LB Medium Medley………………………$80
60 LB Large Medley………………………….$110
80 LB Potato-Lover Medley………………$140

Of course, 2011 CSA members will have first dibs, but good news is that I’m increasing  memberships for 2012.  If you’re interested in purchasing a share for 2012, email earthapplefarm@gmail.com.

And since I promised a recipe for each week in the winter, here is one that someone reminded me about at today’s market…
